An event to recognize animal contributions at the University of Guelph
Thursday May 30, 2019 @ 1pm, Peter Clark Hall
Presented by the Animal Tribute Committee. Open to all members of the UofG animal use community. The event will consist of a short ceremony followed by a reception with light refreshments.
RSVP by Tuesday, May 28, 2019
The goal of this event is to foster a culture that values remembering and recognizing animal contributions in our everyday routine. We hope that those whose work depends on animal use will see that we notice, as an institution, the sacrifices and challenges that lay in that reliance. We are proud of what our animals have given to the University community and beyond and want to show that we are also thankful to them.
We will gather as a group in Peter Clark Hall for a short presentation from members of the University of Guelph animal use community. Participants will then have the opportunity to move out to the Memorial Stone in Branion Plaza for some words of reflection after which there will be a reception with refreshments in Peter Clark Hall
The reception is intended as a time to gather in celebration and for interested participants to share special animal memories and/or thoughts. If you have memories or pictures you would like to share of research/teaching animals that can be incorporated into poster boards or a slideshow, please send to firstname.lastname@example.org (Even if you can not attend the memorial please feel free to send in pictures of your special research animal).
We kindly ask that you submit your animal memories by May 15, 2019.
Support for this event has been provided by the University of Guelph Office of Research, Animal Care Services and Gryphons Care
